Professional Registration Terms

Version 1, 1 November 2026.

These terms apply when a solicitor, an immigration adviser registered with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), or a firm (each "you") registers with Immigration Cafe, a website run by Primus Tech Services ("we", "us"). They sit alongside the general terms of use, the forum rules and the privacy notice. If they conflict, these terms apply to your registration.

You register in the course of your profession or business, so these terms are a business-to-business contract. By ticking the box on the registration form you confirm that you accept them and that you are authorised to accept them for your firm.

1. Who can register

You must be, and stay throughout your registration:

  • a solicitor or firm authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, an adviser or firm registered with the IAA, or a person or body regulated to give immigration advice by another UK regulator we accept (for example the Bar Standards Board or CILEx Regulation); and
  • allowed by your regulator to do the work you describe on your listing.

You must give accurate details, including your regulator and registration number, and tell us within 7 days if they change, or if you are suspended, restricted or stop being regulated.

2. What you get

  • A listing in the directory of registered professionals.
  • A badge on your answers showing you are a registered solicitor, immigration adviser or firm.
  • The ability to answer questions that members put to registered professionals.

We do not promise any number of questions, visitors, enquiries or clients.

3. Checks and approval

We check your details against the public register of your regulator before we approve your registration. We may refuse a registration without giving a reason. You are not charged unless and until we approve you and you choose to pay.

4. Plans and payment

  • 12-month plan: paid in full in advance. It runs for 12 months from the day you pay and does not renew on its own. We remind you before it ends.
  • Monthly plan: a rolling plan paid monthly in advance by card. Over a year it costs 10% more than the 12-month plan. It continues each month until you cancel.

Prices are shown on the registration form and your account page. All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT if VAT applies. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not see or store your card details.

We may change our prices by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. A change does not affect a 12-month plan you have already paid for. On the monthly plan, the new price applies from your first payment after the notice ends, and you may cancel before then.

If a monthly payment fails, your badge stays in place for 3 days while the payment is retried. If it is still unpaid after that, your registration lapses until payment is made.

5. Cancellation and refunds

  • 14-day cooling-off period: you may cancel within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and receive a full refund of that payment. Email hello@immigrationcafe.co.uk from the email address on your account. Your listing and badge are removed when the refund is made.
  • After 14 days, 12-month plan: you may cancel at any time, and your listing stays active until the end of the 12 months. No refund is given for any unused part of the plan.
  • After 14 days, monthly plan: you may cancel at any time from your account page or by email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for. No refund is given for part months.
  • The cooling-off period applies to your first payment for a plan only. It does not apply to monthly renewals, or to renewing or switching to a new plan after an earlier plan has ended.
  • If we end your registration because you broke these terms, the forum rules or your regulator's rules, no refund is due.
  • If we end your registration for any other reason, or close the service, we refund the unused part of a 12-month plan, worked out by whole months.

Refunds are paid to the card or account used for the payment, normally within 14 days of being agreed.

6. Your answers and conduct

  • You remain bound by your own regulator's rules whenever you post, including rules on publicity, confidentiality and conflicts. You are responsible for everything you post.
  • Answers on Immigration Cafe are public and general. Make clear they are not advice on the asker's individual case, and do not ask for or post anyone's personal details.
  • Do not post in the open boards to advertise your services or ask people to contact you. Your listing and your badge show who you are; members can contact you through the details on your listing.
  • Any relationship that follows between you and a member is between you and them alone. We are not a party to it and take no fee from it.
  • You must hold the professional indemnity insurance your regulator requires.

7. Suspension and ending your registration

We may suspend or end your registration, and remove your listing, badge or posts, if you break these terms or the forum rules, if your regulator details cannot be confirmed or change, if we receive a credible complaint about your conduct on the site, or if keeping your listing could cause harm to members. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to respond.

8. Content and your listing

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to show, store, copy and keep your posts and listing on Immigration Cafe, including after your registration ends. You confirm that what you provide does not infringe anyone else's rights. You may ask us to remove your listing when your registration ends; posts in public discussions normally remain, shown under your name.

9. Data protection

We use your details to run your registration and listing, as set out in the privacy notice. Your name, firm, regulator, registration number and any contact details you choose to show are public. If a member contacts you, you are responsible for how you then handle their personal data.

10. Liability

We provide the site as it is and do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We are not liable for loss of profit, business, clients or goodwill, or for any indirect loss. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email of any change that affects you materially. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it takes effect and, on a 12-month plan, receive a refund of the unused whole months.

12. General

These terms, the documents they refer to and your registration form are the whole agreement between us about your registration. You may not transfer your registration to anyone else. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
