What we keep

  • What you post and the display name you choose. Posts are public.
  • If you make an account: your name, email and a scrambled (hashed) password. Solicitors and advisers also give their regulator details, which we check and show in the directory.
  • A one-way scrambled code made from your internet address, used only to stop spam and abuse. It is deleted from posts after 30 days.
  • A sign-in cookie if you sign in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why

To run the forum (our legitimate interest), to provide your account (contract), and to keep the site free of spam and illegal content (legitimate interest and legal duties).

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account or posts to be removed, by emailing us. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
